Four years ago today I became a mama. It was surely the best day of my life--despite having been in labor for 36 hours! (For all of the gory details, read Satchel's Birth Story.
Today I am engaging on the modern ritual of depositing goodie bags in the hands of 36 small children. I told myself I wasn't going to do them this year, but I did anyway! I bought tiny, brightly colored Chinese take-out boxes and filled them with several varieties of balloon, a tattoo, and a mandala sticker. I am going to pass them out at 3:30pm and then I the Ice Cream Woman coming by the school and I'm buying everyone ice cream. Once that's over, we are going to have Satchel's best friend come over for pizza and then if it isn't too muddy we'll go see the Redbird's play tonight.
In the meantime, I'm going to subject you to a self-indulgent retrospective of my little muse's four years.

Happy birthday! And happy "mama" anniversary. The pictures are adorable.
Happy Birthday to the Caped Crusader!
How can they be four? How can we have "known" each other for almost five years.
It's lovely to see your life as a mama unfolding and evolving. It seems like you are in a good place finding time to be creative and have fun. I'm happy for you and inspired by you.
Satchel is such a beautiful boy, I hope the day was a blast for all.

A blast was had by all, only topped by Satchel's vomit-fest all over the living room sofa and carpet just before bedtime. The mark of a true partier!
Happy Birthday, Satchel! Hope you are fully recovered from your party-puking!
Happy Belated Satch!! I am so behind on birthday's this month- I've missed three so far. Love the pics and have enjoyed watching and reading about him growing up. He's such a cool kid.
