Dearest Blog,
I am so sorry that I have been neglecting you, but the Roller Derby is taking over my life! It feels a little weird to be doing something that is all about me and not the kids. Good weird.
On Tuesdays, when we practice, I only see the boys in the morning. After work, I go for a long walk to stretch out my muscles then pick up Chow Pain and drive to Raleigh. We practice for a few hours and then we all go to the Young Avenue Deli to have a beer and eat a really late dinner. By the time I get home the boys are all tucked in their beds and I can't wait to get in mine.
In addition to weekly practices and mandatory free skating for 2 hours, I've joined the Training Committe and the Creative Committee. As a trainer I get to wear a special arm band, blow the whistle a lot, and help with designing exercises. As a part of the creative brain trust I get to help design the "look" of the roller derby.
I've met some really amazing women--a lot of whom are moms. But we don't talk too much about our kids. Conversation tends to center around our gear, upcoming try-outs, team ideas, website ideas, fundraiser ideas, and where to buy cute socks. We all have derby wives, and mine is really cool. She is a welder, a jewelry designer, and a mom.
It feels great to get out and exercise, hang out with a bunch of cool women, and just have a break from the daily grind. When I wake up on Wednesdays I am usually exhausted, but I can't wait to run into the boys' room and snuggle with them.
So my dearest blog, bear with me as I try and get my juggling act perfected. I haven't forgotten you!
Love,
Stacey

Do you juggle and skate at the same time?
OK, I don't know how you do all of that. You're amazing! I feel I've accomplished something if I brush my teeth before Chip and Connor get home in the evening!
