The Chosen

Last Fall someone told me that the JCC (that's the Jewish Community Center) was building a water park in the back. When I heard the term "water park" I immediately pictured the water playground that we enjoyed so much last year at the Germantown Center. I debated whether I wanted to join the Gtown Center again, or the JCC, assuming their facilities were pretty similar. Gtown was winning for the sole fact that it was open on Saturdays and Sundays, rather than just Sunday.

Then my Jewish friends started throwing out words like "adult water slides" and "lazy river."

We decided to take a tour. It took us about 1.5 seconds to decide to join the JCC. We went to the "Family Water Park" (or whatever they call it) three times this week. The monkeys absolutely love it and I have to say that it is also very fun for the adults. I've seen lots of people I haven't seen in nearly 15 years and many familiar faces from around Midtown.

Of course you don't have to be Jewish to join or visit the JCC.

I've tried to tell my friends how awesome the facilities are, but they don't seem to get it. I've thrown out the "unlimited guest passes" a few times, but no one has bitten.

I hope to correct that now.

Satchel's favorite part is the 3ft deep pool. It's nice and big for him to run around in and practice swimming with confidence since he can stand up at any time.

Jiro, not surprisingly, is very fond of the water slide on the playground.

I'm fond of the "adult" water slides. (They are for anyone who can swim in 4ft deep water.) One is completely covered--the other is open on top. They are both fast and super fun.

Just beyond the big water slides is an Olympic size pool for lap swimmers and a nice sized deep end with a diving board. To the right is the lazy river with single and double inter tubes for floating. (Here's the lamest picture ever of these!)

The kids also spent a good bit of time in the 1ft deep baby pool playing with the numerous toys.

And finally, there's a sprayground--in the shade--that the under 6 crowd really likes.

It's like Six Flags up in there!

Now, who wants to come swimming?

This place is just around the corner? And you have free passes? Name the date and time- we will meet you there.

I would like to go on records as saying that I have officially not been invited, even though I am known to be home with four kids and not a thing we have to do.

Um, hello?! Save some guest passes for us! Aug 3-12, remember?

That place looks awesome!

You know what I was thinking about yesterday? The BLP Monthly.

Those slides do look like fun except for the fact that they end in a public pool or, as I call it, toilet bowl.

wow, that looks awesome and their rates are very reasonable. looks like it would even be worth the drive from midtown.
