Saturday before being afflicted with the stomach bug, we headed out into the mist to check out the Houston Skate Park, located within the Houston Levee Park in Germantown. Although it was built in 1999, we only just found out about it. Composed of various slopes, embankments, walls, rails, curbs, and a fun box, it lacks the large obstacles found in other parks we've visited. It seemed like a good place for beginners to get their skate legs.
Despite the weather, the park was pretty crowded--mostly with teenagers, but a few under tens arrived shortly after we did. The monkeys were surprisingly subdued and had to be coaxed onto their boards. Once they got into it, they had to be careful, as there were literally people coming at them from all angles.
Warren complained that he wasn't able to get much speed, so I don't know if he was crazy about the layout. I had my skates with me, but didn't put them on due to the monkeys needing a traffic controller.
It soon rained on our parade, so we had to pile back into the car before really deciding 100% if the skatepark was worth the drive.
