Rock-N-Romp Recap

Saturday we kicked off our third season of Rock-n-Romp at the Tidwells' house. They just happened to have the most perfect amphitheater-like yard ever. We lucked out with warm weather for most of the day and had a massive crowd of 200+ people.

The Flying Monkeys, The Harmony Brothers, and Dragoon were all awesome in their own way. The Flying Monkeys appeared to be having so much fun, I thought we might have to drag them from the stage! (I mean that in a nice way!)

Jeff Hulett, of The Harmony Brothers, has played two other Rock-n-Romps with two different bands, both of which got rained on. He was very excited to finally have the full-on sunny day experience.

Those of you who left a little early really missed out on the fun that was Dragoon! The lead singer, an elementary school teacher by day, really got the kids going!

Speaking of, why did people start leaving around 5:00pm? Was it getting too cold? Was it time for dinner? Let us know! We pushed our start time back an hour to accommodate the nappers, but we don't want to lose people just when things are getting lively!

Now that Chip is our staff photographer, I barely took any pictures at the Romp. But these two are worth a mention:

One of the things I like most about my kids' school is that not only are the teachers people I could be friends with, they are people I am friends with. Here are the Assistants to Infancy trying to encourage one of their students to wait a few years before trying a keg stand.

I got quite a kick out of Mr. Baby commando crawling his way over to a group of people he didn't know so he could pose for a woman with a very large camera. Clearly his mother is not getting his modeling career off to a quick enough start.

Without further ado, the official Rock-n-Romp photos from staff photographer Chip Chockley:

I think moving the time was awesome. Mer is 2.5 and so she lasted longer this year than last -- 2 full hours and loved every minute. But she was freezing and we thought we should leave while everyone was happy. Dragoon WAS great and we hated to leave. I thought the singer had a kid connection when I heard him mention a 'soft c' in his spelling lessons.

Yall did a great job. Thanks for all you do.

We had a great time, too. We were late because Charlie napped a little longer than usual and left early because we had another party we had to attend. Otherwise, we would have stayed the entire time. I hated to leave in the midst of Charlie's dance fest! It was a great event and we look forward to the next one in June. Thanks!
