An Afternoon of Montessori (In Pictures)

Looks like I forgot to post the pictures from Evergreen Montesori's open house Sunday before last! Despite the rain, it was a really nice afternoon. I loved being able to watch the monkeys do their "work." Having never attended Montessori myself, most of what they do is a mystery to me. It was also really neat to go upstairs and visit with the elementary kids since Satchel will be moving up next year.

I especially liked their "vacation spot" where they can request 15 minutes of relaxation (or iTunes or whatever) whenever they need a break. It was also very interesting to see how they learn angles with the help of needle and thread and the way they code the parts of a sentence with different shapes. It actually made me feel like maybe I only had one section of my brain working rather than the whole thing--if that makes any sense.

Today my friend Hope went with me to pick up the monkeys from school and we had a nice tour of the backyard where all of the animals and gardens are. She looked at me and said, "Dang, I wish I could have gone to a school like this when I was growing up."

Bingo.
