The Best Part

If you ask Satchel and Jiro what the best part of our trip was, they will both say, "Swimming!" While they did indeed love the City Museum, they really loved staying in the hotel, aka "our new house", and swimming in the pool on the roof.

Last year I bought them these floatie bathing suits that they never got to wear and luckily was able to still squeeze them in this year. (It was a close call with Jiro's meaty thighs.)

Once Satchel realized he was actually floating, he became very brave and started doggie paddling around the pool like a pro. Jiro spent the first day on the sidelines completely uninterested in getting wet. However, something changed on day two and he became crazy daredevil baby who ran around the edges of the pool and jumped in without warning. (Don't worry, after the Botanic Gardens incident Warren and I were on high alert.)

There were a bazillion people in the pool, but that didn't hinder the monkeys at all. Each day we swam for atleast two hours and had to drag them back to the room with promises of food and "more fun things."

In addition to swimming, the monkeys loved riding on the elevator. Each time we got on Satchel made to sure to ask, "This elevator doesn't go to the top of the arch does it?" (He was terrified that we were going to some how sneak him to the top of the arch without him knowing.) Running up and down the halls was also a big hit. Warren and I had to laugh at our Midtown babies who absolutely had no idea what to do on carpet. They both managed to trip and fall every ten feet. Jumping on the beds was a daily activity. (Even Warren joined in.) Other favorites included: pushing the buttons on the TV, the radio, and the phone; hiding in the curtains; rolling the desk chair around the room in order to reach new heights and unlock the door; the ice machine; and of course, the escalator in the lobby.

On Sunday, Satchel said to me excitedly, "I can't even remember what our old house looks like!"

The picture of the boys in their floating suits is about the best picture I've ever seen!
