Highs and Lows

From Saturday...

Highs

Jiro had his first ever play date that was not the result of him tagging along with his big brother.

Satchel had an impromptu invitation to the Incredible Pizza Company that coincided with Jiro’s playdate.

Lows

Satchel’s play date’s mom asked me if I was his grandmother.

When I said no, she asked if I was Jiro’s grandmother.

For real? Were you wearing a burlap burnoose and hobbling along with a cane, or what?

Weren't you tempted to play along and mess with her little mind? Like, "Oh, yes, it's a tragic story. His poor dead mother was only eight years old when he was born. And let's face it, even an adult human pelvis is NOT equipped to handle a 15-pound baby..."

but see, technically i could have had a child at 15 who in turn had a child at 15 and if the child was six, like satchel, that would equal 36! (warren kindly figured this all out for me)

Holy crap, how rude! You do not look like a granny.

maybe that Mom just uses sarcasm, in a terribly subtle way ... my hubby says I lack inflection, so no one can tell with me :) It could happen. Maybe she was 15 when she had her little one, and she just turned 21 the night before and was so excited because she could legally drink, so she was totally hungover and could not see striaght.

Holy crap! That was rude. My youngest sister was born when I was 17 and my mom was 38. Everyone who was not familiar with the numerous siblings in between us assumed she was mine. My mother said I was not permitted to hold my baby sister in front of strangers because she was sick of being called a grandma.
