While standing in the kitchen doing dishes, I was bombarded by a cacophony of small voices screaming, “Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!” (This was just days after completing our 2500 mile road trip where I heard this over and over and over.) Exasperated, I yelled out, “Now I see why Prince changed his name to a symbol no one could pronounce! I’m going to do that too.”
Without missing a beat, Satchel said, “Can I help you?”
**
On the fourth of July we went downtown to watch the fireworks. This year we came prepared with a large cardboard box so the boys could slide down the bluffs while we waited. Jiro wasn’t too interested, so Satchel made friends with an older boy (maybe aged 7 or 8) and basically ignored us the entire evening.
As we were leaving Satchel called out to his new friend, “Bye! Call me if you need me!”
**
Yesterday I "forced" Satchel to leave the playground at 8:15pm, and he was very angry with me. As we drove down Cooper, he said, “I don’t never want to talk to you again and I don’t never want to hear your voice again.” This was fine by me (for the moment) so I kept my trap shut and kept driving.
“Mommy, I said I don’t never want to talk to you again and I don’t never want to hear your voice again!”
Alrighty.
“Mommy! Answer me!”
“But you said…(I realized there was no point arguing)…okay I won’t talk to you anymore,” I said.
Pissed, he said, “I don’t never want to hear your voice again!”
WTF?
Oh I get it.
I made eye contact in the rearview mirror and nodded.

What's with you and RJA busting out a week's worth of posts in one 24-hour period? I've been sitting here on my refresh button for days!
Call us before you go to the park. We're always up for the park and for having The Monkeys around to take the attention and needyness away from us.
Recently at the pool while we were on vacation, Sophie said to me, "I don't love you and I will never love you if I have to share with Lucy!"
!?!?!
The Lone Star Baby already says she doesn't love me...
