Today the kids had a friendship feast at school. Each parent was asked to bring a family recipe to share. Ideally the kids would help prepare the dish. Well with Warren out of town, this severely narrowed our options. I decided to make banana bread, since it is something I am pretty good at. I have a recipe that I perfected while in the Peace Corps, but I was unable to locate it because we haven't unpacked any of our books yet. So, I decided to just google "banana bread" and make the first recipe that came up.
Luckily it was a good one.
However, I did all this while the kids were at school yesterday. I didn't think I'd have time to let them help me after a night at the theater.
Anyways, the banana bread was a hit--I made each monkey a little cupcake to eat for breakfast.
Tomorrow we have cocktail evening, and are expected to bring something, so I decided to make a double batch of banana bread and let the monkeys help this time. I also decided that if they were helping it would be more fun to throw in some chocolate chips and peanut butter chips.
I was right!
Both monkeys were actually really good helpers. Satchel may just follow in his dad's footsteps.

Why does Satchel have a shirt AND jacket on, yet Jiro looks like he's ready for a PBR and some hot wings on the beach at Maywood?
lol
satchel is always cold. i have no idea why jiro had his shirt off--that is pretty unusual. i think we may have had a misunderstanding about when bath time was starting!
My guess was that Satchel had actually stolen the extra layer of clothing from Jiro. :)
His belly is adorable, btw.
