Hit for Brains had their very first dodgeball game last night. Warren, a.k.a. Gravedigger, was very excited as you can see from the pre-game stretching he did in our living room. (I tried to show him some roller derby stretches, but eventually he decided to just make up his own.)
The team, all decked out in their shirts (designed, of course, by Warren), looked awesome...and intimidating! Much like the Z-Girls when they first hit the track in December 2006.
They had two different games, each about 15 minutes. Both times they went to a tiebreaker and lost! But just barely!! I think there is enormous potential on the team, and once they get a better handle on the rules (i.e. you aren't out if you get hit in the face!) and a little strategy, they'll be unstoppable. (Especially when Caleb shows up to distract everyone with his good looks.)

The monkeys were in attendance and were actually quite interested in the game. The rules are simple and the games are short. If it weren't for all of the flying balls, it would be the perfect sport to bring your kids to!
Last night the monkeys did cause one small incident. Tired of watching, they decided to go play in the hall with their Lego Star Wars action figures. As Jiro was running out, he noticed Satchel wasn't following, so he stopped and waited for him. Before he knew what hit him, Alex, a spunky gal on Hit for Brains, fell backwards over him, knocking them both down. Thankfully, neither of them was hurt. Jiro was a little scared, and started crying, but it turns out he was crying because the fall caused him to drop his Legos figure and Obi Wan's upper body was missing.
Satchel, who ran up to me after the accident and reported, "She said shit!" over and over in amazement, was happy to have a reason to crawl back under the bleachers, and heroically retrieved Obi Wan's torso.
