The minute he got out of the car from his trip he started asking me when he could get his dog. He was relentless! Warren took him to an adoption day at Hollywood Feed and at Overton Bark. I took him to the Humane Society and Memphis Animal Services.
We looked at a lot of dogs.
In the end, we brought home this little guy from the shelter. He's a German Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix.

Satchel decided to name him Dinkey, after the brave dog who saved his owner's life in the Sierras. (Yes, the Dinkey Creek Wilderness Area is also named in his honor.) I have a feeling Dinkey will be an ironic name at some point. Look at those long legs!

But for now, Dinkey is very tiny. He's just two months old. We all fell in love with him immediately. He had a tour of the yard...

And the house...

And of course had a photo shoot...

Satchel took him on a walk out front and Dinkey already let us know that he wants to go on runs. He has lots of energy!
He loves to chew! Shoes, toes, skirt hems...nothing is safe!
His first poop was on my white & black wool rug, which wasn't so awesome, but not the end of the world.
He slept for almost 7 hours straight before crying last night. (His kennel is in the boys' room.)
The cats came in around 7:30am to tell me how they felt about our latest addition by peeing on my bed for the first time ever! Uh-oh. I'm sure the cats will come around.
He went to work with Warren today. He is one happy pup.
