So, after we buried Dinkey, the kids and I hit the road for Heber Springs. It was fall break afterall, and we needed a distraction!
My O35 teammate, Weetie, was nice enough to invite us to stay with her and her kids for a few days at her mother's house on the river. Our goalie, Joanna, came along with her family. We were definitely not roughing it.
When we arrived, Weetie had everything all set up and ready to go. Hot dogs and s'mores for the kids, to be cooked around the fire pit.
Sit down dinner for the adults to be eaten after several beers and stories on the porch.
Once we fed the kids, they pretty much entertained themselves and then the adults did the same. It was really nice to relax and laugh all night.
The next morning, Weetie had fed everyone breakfast before I was even out of bed!
Then it was all about getting out on the lake. Satchel and Jiro had been dying to go tubing since seeing pictures of Santi & Enrique doing so in Maryland. So we loaded up our things, put everyone in a life jacket, and headed to the water.
There were some pretty big smiles.
We spent several hours riding around, swimming, and tubing! The tubing was by far the highlight for the kids.
They did not want to leave!
Actually none of us wanted to leave, but we had to return to Memphis for various reasons--Warren's birthday, soccer games, and so on. The whole drive home the kids asked, "When can we go back?"
It was a lovely couple of days and it definitely hit the spot. Thank you so much, Weetie!
