RPCV Reunion in Taos, Part 1

Last Spring, or maybe the Spring before that, when I was visiting my Peace Corps pal, Amy, in New Orleans, we drunkenly decided to plan a Peace Corps reunion to mark twenty years. We didn't quite pull off our vision of getting our 30+ stage mates together in Nola, but thanks to our Peace Corps pal, Jeremy, we were able to reunite four families in Taos, New Mexico last week.

Warren and I, of course, decided to drive. It's not summer unless the majority of Team Oster takes a long ass road trip! But this one was extra special because we brought Satsuki along!

She was SO excited! She's never been anywhere outside of Midtown, with the exception of my mom's house in Germantown. I was worried she'd get carsick, but she didn't. She did great.

When we arrived in Taos, her new best friend, Eli, was waiting for her.

(The happier she is, the longer her tongue gets.)

Despite coming from all corners of the world (not really) we arrived within minutes of Amy & Dillon. We were all very impressed by the house Jeremy found us. It immediately felt like we were back in a volunteer house in Cameroon. Except of course for the fact that it had a hot tub, Viking range, super comfy beds & sofas, etc.

The kids--all boys!--immediately got in the hot tub.

The adults cracked open beers and started catching up.

Jeremy & Andrea had procured dinner for everyone and we had a lovely meal together.

There was more talking, drinking and hut tubbing to be done, but I think we all managed to get to sleep at a decent hour.

More to come...
