1-Kyu

Not sure how I went over a week without blogging! I usually catch up over the weekend, but we spent the weekend in Knoxville for the Southeast USA Kendo Federation tournament where Warren tested for (and received) his 1-Kyu ranking.

It was really cool to see all of the kenshi together in one room. I'd guess there were about 200 of them--men, women, and kids.


On Saturday we caught the tail end of the competition. Sunday was the testing. Here's Warren doing jigeiko for his test. (Yes, he is yelling at a woman and beating a stick over her head. It's okay, she yells and beats back.)
